Good Habits are the Foundation
Let's define habits. Habits are the small decisions you make and actions you perform every day. According to researchers at Duke University, habits account for about 40 percent of our behaviours on any given day.
Your life today is essentially the sum of your habits. How in shape or out of shape you are? A result of your habits. How happy or unhappy you are? A result of your habits. How successful or unsuccessful you are? A result of your habits. If you are not internally driven, then this business is not for you.
When starting this business, start with your WHY.
WHY is the purpose, cause or belief that drives every one of us.
The work world is tough: wake up, go to work, deal with the boss (or if you are the boss, deal with everyone), make money, come home, manage personal life, go to bed, wake up, repeat. That's plenty to deal with every day.
Discovering the WHY injects passion into our work. This is not a formula for success. There are many ways to be successful; however, identifying your WHY is a tool to help us achieve long-term, fulfilling success.
Every organization—and every person’s career—operates on three levels: what we do, how we do it, and why we do it. We all know what we do: the products we sell, the services we offer or the jobs we do. Some of us know how we do it: the things that we think make us different or stand out from the crowd. But very few of us can clearly articulate why we do what we do.
The WHY is the purpose, cause, or belief that drives every organization and every person's individual career. Why does your business exist? Why did you get out of bed this morning? And why should anyone care?
Once you understand your WHY, you’ll be able to clearly articulate what makes you feel fulfilled and to better understand what drives your behavior when you’re at your natural best. When you can do that, you’ll have a point of reference for everything you do going forward. You’ll be able to make more intentional choices for your business, your career and your life. You’ll be able to inspire others to buy from you, work with you and join your cause. Never again should you have to play the lottery and act on gut decisions that are made for reasons you don’t really understand. From now on, you can work with purpose, on purpose. From now on, you can start with WHY.
If we want to feel an undying passion for our work, if we want to feel we are contributing to something bigger than ourselves, we all need to know our WHY.

3 groups of people
- Every customer you have ever had - love them, serve them, care for them and don’t have business in mind all of the time
- Remind them that you care, you see them and value them
- Make a list of those who you want to connect with
Before people decide to buy from you, they need to be able to trust you.
But how do you gain trust? By demonstrating love to people every chance you can.
Start by telling yourself, “I will love everything and everyone" each morning when you get up. When you talk to another person, ensure that the words you use are loving, because words infused with love have great power.
On Social media, be a conscious creator.
Share stories (COMPLIANTLY), share about the opportunity, share your life, share you, share your personal development, showcase people in your team, share experiences, and have a call to action to message you for more info about how to get started. YOU are the brand. People will not connect with just a photo of an oil or kit. They’ll connect with your stories. Do live videos and share helpful, valuable content that will solve people’s pain points and resonate with others that are drawn to you.
Identify your niche market. Create a specialisation and be that authority that allows you to stand out in a saturated market. Be clear on who you are helping (mums, working mums, young families, dog lovers, hippies, low-tox people etc etc). This helps to attract your tribe.
To be a successful dŌTERRA Builder means to be unique and never give up, even in the face of failure.
Persistence! It can be so easy to give up after you’ve experienced a setback, but luckily there are some things you can do to help you get back on track and succeed.
The first step is to each day tell yourself, “I will persist until I succeed.”
When you come face-to-face with an obstacle, resist the urge to run away from it. See it as a challenge and push harder to overcome it.
If you want to perform at your best, you need to control your emotions and laugh whenever you can.
Have you ever been a slave to your emotions? It happens to all of us. But if you want to be a successful Builder, you cannot let your emotions overpower you.
Bear in mind that life has peaks and valleys, and work to keep your emotions in check accordingly. If you feel down or depressed, lift your mood a little by singing. If you’re feeling inferior, raise your voice to help give you more confidence and obviously use your oils to change your frequency.
When you’re aware of how life impacts your emotional state, you can also start to understand and accept other people’s actions.
Personal Development is a huge facet of this business. There are other modalities that fall under this banner to help you.

I find Tapping to be an extremely effective, quick and helpful way to clear limiting beliefs and negative emotions that come up for me when I’m going for a big goal.

Visualise yourself already as the rank you are aiming for, who would you be?
- Create a Vision Board
- Change Your Passwords (to reflect your rank goal)
- Post it notes (with your goal)
- Write your goals on your mirror
- Writing out your goal DAILY and journal daily as mentioned above.
- Remember Personal Development without ACTION is a complete waste of time.
Take Action; A series of actions will help you work your way to your ultimate goal(s)
First, you should know that whatever you dream cannot happen if you don’t take action.
Turning a dream into a reality is not a simple path; along the way, it’s easy to procrastinate.
Resist taking the easy way out! Whenever you make a plan or have an idea, set up a series of actions that will help you achieve it straight away. If your idea seems intimidating initially, remember, even if you fail on the first attempt, it’s far better to have tried, than forever wonder “what if...?”
It’s also a good idea to announce your goals and objectives to others. The looming threat of having to make an excuse to someone about why you didn’t achieve your goal is a great motivator not to fail!
This will require you stepping out of your comfort zone.
When you SHOW UP, your ACTIONS need to reflect this.
Reach out to your support others when times get tough, relent , use your oils, take some time for self care and then pick yourself up and keep moving forward.

Teach Classes. Then teach others to teach classes.
Enroll People. Then teach others how to enrol others…
Front load the first half of your month with double the amount of classes and one on ones you think you will need to rank advance for the ENTIRE MONTH so that if you have cancellations or not as many enrolments you think you have loads of time to create more.
Reach out to every single person already in your team in legs you need volume to see if they are open to having a class for you.

Hi Lily, I know you’re loving the oils, will you host a class of 4-7 people in the next few weeks so we can help more people learn about them? Of course anyone you invite you’ll get to enroll and we can start earning your oils for free/get you some cash!

Hi Nina, (insert personalised message if you wish) are you open to natural ways to care of your health? I’m teaching people how to use essential oils, are you open to hosting a class for me/attending a workshop at my place OR online on Monday?
Commit to a class in your own home at the same time every single week indefinitely so you ALWAYS have something to invite the people you are talking to and sharing the oils with throughout each week. I made mine a Monday evening at 7pm online. Initially I had existing members join us, then members from other teams and now we get newbies every single week through referrals. The more I did them the more momentum I got as I was able to book classes from classes and invite people I enrolled to bring their own contacts if they weren’t ready to have their own class.

Present the Business Opportunity, Not JUST the Oils.

Under Powerpoints use the Build Guide Powerpoint to Present an Optional Business Opportunity Info Session at the end of your Nature’s Solutions Classes (after you have helped everyone open their own wholesale/wellness advocate account).
Decision for Rank Advance
When you are making a decision, always think about the rank ahead. While Premier you require two personally enrolled Executives with 2000pv each in different legs, the 5000 OV can be anywhere in your team, why not start that in a third leg to start looking towards Silver. Remember, the Power of 3 is the foundation to your rank advance.
Think about the long term vision here and how worth it all this work will be. Really the work required is just repeating some basic principles and when you think about the LIFELONG Financial Freedom it creates, you will look back and think wow, that should’ve been a lot harder. It can feel challenging in the moment, but think about the life and legacy you are creating. Hold onto the reasons WHY you are doing this. Remember the lives you are changing and keep showing up and getting it done.
